Originally from the Shetland Islands, I have 20+ years of cross-functional management experience in a variety of positions, in a number of different industries (including hospitality, retail, property information, and IT).

I worked in several roles for a blue chip hospitality group, where my eye for business process and risk management opened opportunities to support the acquisition of 500 outlets and subsequently the disposal of another 500.

On moving to New Zealand in 2003, I took on the role of Regional Manager for a fuels wholesale business; during two years with the company the business grew from 36 to 78 retail sites, 22 of which were acquired through my engagement, and I personally managed the conversion projects for 15.

In 2005, I moved to Sydney, where I was able to indulge a passion for applying technology in a business environment with SAI Global Property.  I started as Operations Manager NSW, delivering a restructure in both the NSW and VIC locations post-acquisition of the business's largest competitor. Later, I took on the role of Product & Systems Support Manager, responsible for the infrastructure and software development teams, becoming a PRINCE2 Practitioner and leading the change to Agile development.

Having married and returned to New Zealand in January 2011, I rejoined fuel wholesale through various technology roles, including Business Analyst and General Manager for Technology & Innovation. Here I led key projects including business automation and ePOS deployment, while adapting to the challenges of becoming a father!

During this period, I worked with an entreprenurial colleague to found Panacea, a beautiful cloud based veterinary practice management tool.

In 2021, I joined Lumen Business Solutions to help this business through a growth phase and to focus my passion for simplifying clients’ business processes through the introduction of cutting-edge technology.

A move to Triquestra in 2022, saw me take the role of Head of Quality, leading a team of 15, and partnering across the leadership and delivery teams, to deliver material improvements in software delivery quality.

Recently I took a career break to review my career direction and take the opportunity to revisit family in Europe. Now returned, I am seeking a role where I can “make a difference”.
